Although ITW Foils offers formulations for all your production challenges, there are some rules of thumb when it comes to using foils with type. Typefaces generally appear bolder when foiled, so you may want to set type loosely and with more leading than usual. Very large type sizes or solid ares of foil might require a foil formula to minimizes “air entrapment” to ensure consistent adhesion.
Type smaller than 8 pt., fine or super-condensed fonts, and fonts with pointed serifs sometimes may present challenges with “fill-in”.
